Recently published, this sounded like an uplifting read to kickstart our lockdown reading. An easy read, we were in general agreement that, although it started well with a nice central idea, it lost momentum and petered out. The characters were too many to be developed in any depth and so became stereotypical and not very believable. Likewise the story itself was all a bit too predictable. We did reflect on how much ‘authenticity’ you would want from people, what the line would be between authenticity and oversharing and how authenticity is affected by social media, but there was not much to divide us here or provoke strong opinions.
