Great BookBubble conversation with @abbiegreavesauthor last night talking about her debut novel The Silent Treatment. We talked a lot about the writing process, learning that coming up with names and convincing occupations can be as tricky as the plot, and, that whilst it’s possible to write about things you haven’t actually experienced through careful observation and research, settings are easier to describe if they are familiar to the author. We learned how the editorial process can initially be very painful when your first previous draft is heavily critiqued, but that you come to realise that generally the changes are for the better and make for an improved novel. Thanks Abbie for joining us and to The Reading Agency for sending us copies.
